State of Hate

In the late '90s, Margriet van der Linden, a former US correspondent, witnessed shocking hate crimes in the US. Nearly thirty years later, she revisits the US, exploring infamous hate crime sites. From Oklahoma, where Timothy McVeigh launched a terrorist attack, to Texas, where a black man was lynched, Margriet interviews families, witnesses, and residents still affected. The series draws parallels with today's reality, marked by tightened abortion laws, the storming of the Capitol, escalating violence against the LGBTQIA+ community, and persistent racism against black people.
